There are discussions in the works that the iconic Volkswagen Scirocco could make a triumphant return, but this time as an EV sports coupe. This redesign is currently in the proposal stage, with the brand's manufacturers, engineers, and designers reviewing the possibility of reintroducing the Scirocco as an electric car adorned with styling from the 1970s. The sports coupe could potentially feature a dual-motor, four-wheel-drive R flagship.
The Scirocco forms part of a broader sports car program which is currently under consideration. This line-up might also extend to a fourth-generation Porsche Boxster/Cayman, the Cupra Dark Rebel coupe concept’s production model, and a fourth edition of the Audi TT. This development was leaked by an informant to Autocar UK, the sister publication, who also mentioned a 2028 launch date provided it gets the green light from Volkswagen CEO Thomas Schafer.
The overhauled Scirocco is imagined to take its place above the second-generation ID 3 hatchback, adopting the Golf’s moniker. It will come out in tandem with a face-lifted version of the ninth-generation of its combustion-engine equivalent in 2027.
The new electric Golf will adopt Volkswagen's new SSP platform, while the revamped Scirocco will be founded on a custom-tailored version of the PPE platform, crafted for the new Boxster/Cayman. This car will be available solely with electric power, and the platform will support various wheelbase lengths, track widths, either a single-motor, rear-wheel-drive or dual-motor, four-wheel-drive layouts.
Porsche’s new platform holds a battery within the centre tunnel and at the rear of the cabin, akin to previous Boxsters, ensuring a low door sill and floor height. It was previewed on the track with the high-performing, Mission R concept car.
It is projected that the redesigned Scirocco will lead off with roughly 300bhp in its single-motor model and peak with over 400bhp in its dual-motor variant, ensuring a worthy successor to the Scirocco R that was produced with a turbo four-cylinder powertrain from 2009 to 2017.
The Scirocco's revival was spurred by Volkswagen Group's recently instated chairman, Oliver Blume. His aim is to achieve greater economies of scale by adding new models with high sales potential to Volkswagen's lineup. The final decision as to where the new Scirocco will be manufactured has yet to be reached, but possibility might lie in the former Karmann factory in Osnabruck, Germany. This location is significant as the original home of the Scirocco.
Apart from this, Mahindra and JSW have shown interest in acquiring stakes in VW Group’s India operations. Meanwhile, Volkswagen has confirmed its plans for a mass-market EV for India. Additionally, Porsche’s updated Taycan model is now the brand’s most high-powered road car.
Bajaj Auto has unveiled the 2025 iteration of its popular streetfighter, the Pulsar NS160, now equipped with three distinct riding modes: Road, Rain, and Off-road. This enhancement aims to provide riders with optimized performance across various terrains and weather conditions.
Enhanced Riding Experience with New Modes

TVS Apache RTR 160 4V: Offers Urban, Rain, and Sport modes, focusing on versatile performance.
Hero Xtreme 160R: While lacking dedicated riding modes, it features a drag race timer with two modes for performance enthusiasts.
Additional Tech and Features

Digital Instrument Cluster: Provides real-time data including speed, RPM, fuel levels, and gear position.
Bluetooth Connectivity: Enables turn-by-turn navigation, call and text alerts, and displays mobile battery status.
USB Charging Port: Conveniently located for on-the-go device charging.
The bike retains its aggressive design elements, featuring a sharp headlamp, sculpted fuel tank, split seats, and is available in four color options: Cocktail Wine Red, Ebony Black, Pearl Metallic White, and Pewter Grey.
Performance and Specifications
Under the hood, the Pulsar NS160 is powered by a 160.3cc oil-cooled engine, delivering 17.2 PS of power and 14.6 Nm of torque. It rides on 17-inch wheels with tubeless tires (100/80 front and 130/70 rear), ensuring stability and grip across various riding conditions.
With these advancements, Bajaj continues to cater to the evolving needs of modern riders, blending performance, technology, and safety in the 2025 Pulsar NS160.
