Anticipated India Launch of the New Ford Ranger Pickup Endeavour's Hilux Rival Gathers Momentum

Anticipated India Launch of the New Ford Ranger Pickup Endeavour's Hilux Rival Gathers Momentum

Is the Indian launch of Ford Ranger, Hilux's rival, imminent? Speculations rise as sightings fuel anticipation alongside the Endeavour's nearing debut

The global market's most recent Ranger model, produced by American auto major Ford, has been found strapped aboard a flatbed truck, fueling speculations about an impending launch in India. This news follows our earlier report of spotting the third generation Endeavour truck, which suggested the model is nearing its launch in India. Both the Ford Ranger and the upcoming Endeavour share the same ladder frame chassis, offering a promising prospect of a dual launch by the marque in India within this year. ford_pickup The Endeavour design has been patented in India by the American company, which also registered the Mustang Mach-E moniker. The Mustang Mach-E, an electric vehicle, is expected to compete with high-end rivals such as the Mercedes-Benz EQE, BMW iX, and Audi Q8 e-tron after its anticipated launch next year. The Mustang Mach-E, is likely to be imported to India through the Completely Built-Up (CBU) route. ford_pickup Nonetheless, our focus for this article remains the Ranger pickup truck. This model could stir up volumes due to its positioning against the Toyota Hilux and the Isuzu D-Max in the domestic marketplace. Decidedly, lifestyle pickup trucks are not yet hogging the limelight, however, Ford's decision to introduce the Ranger in India seems rational. The Ranger shares its body-on-frame build with the new Endeavour (renamed Everest for other markets), thus making the case for its Indian launch even stronger. ford_pickup Analysing the global Ranger model, it offers an impressive 2.3L engine that produces 270 hp and a 2.7L turbo V6 that churns out 315 hp. Both these versions come mated to a ten-speed automatic transmission and are available in both 2WD and 4WD configurations. Given that the basis for the previous Endeavour and the upcoming third-gen model remains, overhauling Ford’s Maraimalai Nagar plant to produce the new SUV and its pickup counterpart would be more cost-effective than devising a new architecture. ford_pickup Our comprehensive analysis of the Ranger extends to its interior features. Lower trims will offer an eight-inch instrument console and a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment display. Those opting for high-spec models can enjoy facilities such as a 12-inch touchscreen and a fully-digital cluster, amongst other features. Ranger’s ProTrailer Backup Assist uses cameras and sensors to reverse the vehicle when a trailer is attached, and the driver simply operates a knob on the center console. ford_pickup Other notable features of the Ranger include a lane centering adaptive cruise control and a 360-degree camera system. The vehicle also comes with a 400-watt inverter with an outlet in the bed to power electric items, and a 360-degree exterior lighting system. Emphasizing on the range-topping Ranger Raptor, it is revealed to be the mightiest Ranger ever. This model encompasses a 3.0L V6 mill, similar to the one in the Bronco Raptor, which outputs an impressive 405 hp. Ford fans in India would do well to watch out, as the exciting new Ranger and Endeavour could soon be adorning Indian roads.

To stay ahead in the game, TVS diligently updates the iQube lineup, continually adding more features, options and broadening the range to keep pace with the dynamic needs of their clients. TVS iQube Nevertheless, a recent development put the spotlight on iQube through a video circulating on social media which highlighted an alleged defect in the scooter's chassis. Uploaded by Mohit Badaya, the video revealed the scooter's damaged chassis, despite it not being involved in any accident or collision. The footage, watched by nearly 32 million (3.2 crore) viewers, triggered a flurry of similar complaints from other iQube owners, leading to TVS's swift action: a voluntary recall. In reaction to the potential defect that poses a significant threat to customer safety and satisfaction, TVS Motor Company has called for a voluntary recall of its iQube electric scooters. New Clutchless KTM ADV Motorcycle with AMT Gearbox Teased

New Clutchless KTM ADV Motorcycle with AMT Gearbox Teased

KTM teases a new ADV bike featuring an Automated Manual Transmission with a foot gear selector and handlebar shifters, omitting the traditional clutch lever.

KTM recently announced a teaser trailer for its newest ADV motorcycle, featuring an Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) gearbox. This new addition to the ADV line stands out from previous models with its inclusion of a foot-operated gear selector and handlebar shifters. However, notably absent from this model’s design is the common clutch lever found in most traditional ADV motorcycles. KTM ADV Motorcycle The ADV prototype showcased in the teaser video recently took part in the prestigious Iron Road Prologue category during Redbull’s Erzberg Rodeo held in Eisenerz, Austria. Limited to only twin-cylinder motorcycles, this racing category was the perfect opportunity to show off the prototype's off-road capabilities. The professional French enduro rider, Johnny Aubert, skillfully demonstrated the superior off-road and terrain handling of the prototype during the event. Even the motorcycle's camouflage branding: KTM, AMT and Prototype, emphasize exactly what it brings to the two-wheeler market. With an increasing industry trend towards semi-automatic motorcycles, the prototype joins the ranks of recent models, including Honda Africa Twin DCT and Goldwing DCT, which have ushered in an era of automatic gearboxes in motorbikes. KTM ADV Motorcycle The prototype works via a clutchless operation allowing the rider the choice of either shifting by foot or from the handlebar. Another unique feature is an auto mode for those not keen on shifting gears manually, thus eliminating the need for gear shifts and clutches. It will potentially have a slight learning curve for current riders, but seems to offer a more smooth and simplified riding experience. This new riding technology is particularly favored among ADV and large bagger bikes. Their heavy-duty nature often sees them utilized on long continental rides, where the simplicity of an automatic transmission can offer increased comfort and convenience. This also enables riders to focus solely on challenging off-road terrains, rather than constantly adjusting gears. KTM ADV Motorcycle In India, KTM is meanwhile focusing on testing its soon to be released 390 platform motorcycles, which include the 390 Adventure and 390 Enduro. The company is also working on the development of a new RC 390 slated for potential release in the Indian market. From the BMW Motorrad's ASA technology for the R 1300 GS ADV to the recently teased KTM 1390 Super Adventure, the motorbike industry is experiencing noteworthy shifts towards automated technology that enhances rider's experiences. As motorcycle manufacturers embrace this innovation, the future of automatic transmission in motorcycles is already upon us.

UK-Built Toyota Hilux FCEV Begins Testing with Ten Hydrogen-Powered Prototypes

UK-Built Toyota Hilux FCEV Begins Testing with Ten Hydrogen-Powered Prototypes

Toyota pioneers hydrogen-powered Hilux FCEVs, producing 10 units in Derby, UK, as an alternative to battery-electric commercial vehicles

Toyota, the well-known automaker with a knack for taking unconventional paths, is now exploring the world of hydrogen-powered Hilux vehicles. With the industry focusing on battery-powered electrification for commercial vehicles, Toyota takes a different approach. They've constructed 10 fully operational, hydrogen-powered Hilux Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles (FCEVs) at their Motor Manufacturing factory in Derby, UK. Hilux_FCEVs Instead of merely trialing a single prototype, the company has manufactured ten FCEVs, which showcases a bold step by the automotive giant. Other than the Toyota livery, these hydrogen-powered Hiluxes are virtually indistinguishable from their diesel-fueled counterparts. Their standard dimensions remain the same, and they even sport increased payload and towing weight owing to the lightweight nature of hydrogen. The hydrogen that powers these vehicles lies in three 2.6 kg fuel tanks embedded in the ladder frame chassis, with the battery positioned above them in the rear deck. The 330-cell fuel cell that generates electricity is situated above the front axle. Toyota assures that the cabin space remains unimpacted. However, the load bay may have slightly reduced capacity— yet there aren't any available pictures to confirm this. Hilux_FCEVs At 182hp power and 221lb ft torque, the hydrogen-fueled Hilux may not compete with the 2.8-litre diesel version's 204hp and 369lb ft. Nevertheless, it should serve the vehicle's intended functions and only emits water vapour. Toyota predicts that 600km (373 miles) driving range is attainable using a full tank, outperforming comparable battery-powered trucks. The challenge remains to find hydrogen replenishment stations, although refueling is faster than recharging batteries. Toyota's hydrogen fuel cell units are assembled in Belgium at the Hydrogen Factory Europe. The factory is designing a third-generation model, earmarked for launch by 2027. This upgrade aims to elevate the range and power of vehicles like the Mirai, another hydrogen-powered vehicle from Toyota. The focus lies on lowering costs through technological advancements and economies of scale, making such emission-reducing drivetrains more affordable and attractive to the market. Hilux_FCEVs Although the hydrogen-powered Hilux still has progress to be made, its fleet's initiation is an encouraging sign. Half of these vehicles will undergo intense field testing for safety, performance, functionality, and durability. The remainder will be used for media demonstrations, including featuring in the Olympics. Toyota aims to combine its thirty-plus years of experience in hydrogen vehicles with Hilux's latest field test data to improve the next generation of FCEVs.   Hilux_FCEVs The European market stands to be among the largest markets for hydrogen come 2030. However, concrete data regarding the extent of hydrogen adoption remains elusive. The car industry is steadily moving towards carbon neutrality, but the pace of change is unprecedented and unpredictable. With the development of vehicles like the hydrogen Hilux, Toyota keeps its options open and remains hopeful. Their iconic truck has achieved ambitious feats since the 1960s, and readying it for the hydrogen ecosystems and infrastructure across Europe should be an achievable task.

Force Gurkha 4x2 The Upcoming Thar RWD Competitor"

Force is gearing up to launch the Gurkha 4X2, a budget-friendly variant aimed to compete with the Thar RWD, targeting a broader audience.

Force Motors is vigorously preparing to introduce an affordable and more user-friendly version of the 3-door Gurkha, the Gurkha 4X2, as a future competitor to the Thar RWD. The Gurkha, a niche off-roader with a relatively small mass-market appeal, recently underwent a series of enhancements, including a more powerful engine, numerous new features, and an additional 5-door style. However, the addition of a 4X2 variant will likely attract a larger customer base that doesn't require the hardcore specifications of the 4x4 model. the_Gurkha_4X2 Sales of the Gurkha, despite its recent updates, haven’t really taken off. The new 4X2 version of the Gurkha aims to address this situation. By removing some of the 4x4 features, such as the drivetrain, manual transfer case and differential locks, Force Motors is making the Gurkha 4x2 a more affordable option. This strategy mirrors Mahindra's approach with their Thar model. The compact RWD variants of the Thar now make up nearly 50 percent of its total sales, boosted by tax concessions for this segment. As the majority of Thar owners use their vehicles in the city, they rarely use their 4x4 features. The Gurkha 4x2 is expected to maintain its four-seater configuration, with forward-facing rear seats. To keep up with the competition, it's predicted that the Gurkha 4x2 will be priced closer to Rs 15 lakh, aiming to directly compete with the Thar 4x2 that costs between Rs 11.35 lakh and Rs 14.10 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). the_Gurkha_4X2 It’s worth noting that the Gurkha has only recently been updated, so aside from the change in body style and deletion of certain features, no other changes to the model are anticipated at this stage. Viewers can expect the Gurkha 4x2 to serve as an entry point to the line-up whilst also serving as a firm challenge to Thar’s dominance in the market. It signals a strategic shift for Force Motors, lessening its reliance on the hardcore off-roader market and broadening its appeal through more affordable, versatile vehicles. The auto company is currently readying itself for the launch, which is undoubtedly eagerly anticipated by SUV enthusiasts keen to experience the new reasonably priced model. Force Motors is highly esteemed in India for its quality SUVs, including the beloved Gurkha 3-door, priced at Rs 16.75 lakh. Mercedes to Launch EQA SUV in India on July 8

Mercedes to Launch EQA SUV in India on July 8

On July 8, 2024, Mercedes-Benz India will launch the electric EQA SUV, expanding its EV lineup to compete with the Volvo XC40 Recharge and BMW iX1.

On July 8, 2024, the premium automotive company, Mercedes-Benz India, will enhance its electric vehicle (EV) lineup with the eagerly awaited launch of the all-new, electric EQA SUV. This launch marks the brand’s entry into the expansive Indian EV market, where it will go head to head with contemporary rivals like the Volvo XC40 Recharge and the BMW iX1. Electric_EQA_SUV Presently, Mercedes-Benz India's EV portfolio comprising three models: the EQB seven-seat SUV, EQE SUV, and the flagship EQS sedan. The addition of the EQA model is in line with Mercedes' larger plans of expanding its EV range and targeting a comprehensive lineup of six electric cars by the close of 2024. The EQA, which was globally unveiled following its facelift in August last year, is the next EV poised to make its Indian debut. Wrapped in a sleek, crossover-like build, contrasting the more conventional architecture of its seven-seater sibling, the EQB, the EQA boasts an array of popular Mercedes design elements. Electric_EQA_SUV_0 The exterior design is marked by a front grille panel featuring the distinctive Mercedes star pattern and a unique, full-width light-bar. At the rear, the resemblance to the EQB is replicated, reinforcing brand identity while maintaining unique product characteristics. Stepping inside, the cabin strikes a balance between classical elegance and futuristic design aesthetics. Accentuating the interior space are intricately patterned dashboard and door trims bathed in gentle backlighting, reminiscent of the trims found in the high-end S-Class and EQS models. Expected standard features for the Indian model include a touch-capacitive three-spoke steering wheel, a digital driver display, a 10.25-inch touchscreen running the latest operating system, and a Burmester surround sound system with Dolby Atmos functionality. Electric_EQA_SUV In terms of the powertrain, Mercedes is yet to unveil the specifics of the India-bound EQA. However, globally, the EQA is offered in four variants, each outfitted with a potent set of batteries. These include the EQA 250, EQA 250+, EQA 300 4Matic, and EQA 350 4Matic; minus the 250+ variant, which receives a 70.5 kWh battery promising up to 560 km of range, all other EQA variants draw power from a 66.5 kWh battery pack that has a maximum range of 528 km (under WLTP parameters). Electric_EQA_SUV Assuming that Mercedes retains a comparable pricing strategy to its existing EV models, the EQA, considered as Mercedes’ entry-level e-SUV, is expected to slot in slightly below the EQB, currently priced at Rs 77.75 lakh. Furthermore, the Mercedes EQA's primary competition will come from models like the Volvo XC40 Recharge and C40 Recharge (priced between Rs. 54.95 to 62.95 lakh) as well as BMW’s iX1 (priced at Rs. 66.90 lakh). The Kia’s EV6, priced between Rs. 60.97 to 65.97 lakh, could also pose a viable challenge. As the electric vehicle market continues to evolve in India, the arrival of the Mercedes EQA is sure to stir things up. Keep an eye out on July 8 for the official release, with more updates and developments to follow.
